Pollwatcher Credentials Are Now Available

Lake County clerk requires documentation for those observing voting sites.

Pollwatcher credentials for qualified political organizations for the April 5, 2011 Consolidated Election are now available at the County Clerk's office, according to Willard Helander, Lake County clerk.

All pollwatchers are required to have credentials issued by the Lake County Clerk in order to observe at voting sites. Pollwatchers may represent candidates, established political parties, qualified civic organizations and organized proponents or opponents of ballot propositions.

The Clerk's office will offer a Pollwatcher Training class at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 31, at the County Administration Building, 18 N. County St., 10th Floor Assembly Room, Waukegan.

Requests for Pollwatcher Credentials and registration for the class can be sent via email to elections@lakecountyil.gov or by calling (847) 377-2314. Candidates can visit LakeCandidatePower.info and download Pollwatcher Guide, a helpful brochure explaining the qualifications and responsibilities of a pollwatcher.
