Open House Saturday on Dimucci Proposal

The open house will be held at the Concorde Banquets in Kildeer.

The first of three open houses on the Dimucci Family development proposal will be held Saturday at the Concorde Banquets in Kildeer.

According to a press release issued by Lake County, the March 3 open house will take place from 9 a.m. until noon. Residents will be able to learn more about the Dimucci proposal, ask questions and submit comments.

The Lake County Regional Planning Commission has been asked to consider granting a , located at Route 12 and Old McHenry Road. The Dimucci family is seeking a change from estate to commercial zoning on the 108-acre parcel to allow for a shopping center.

A standing-room-only crowd gathered for the Regional Planning Commission's Feb. 6 meeting at the Ela Area Public Library, but the meeting was postponed after nearly an hour to allow everyone in the audience a chance to give input.

In addition to the March 3 open house, two open houses have been scheduled for March 21 and 27. Both of those events will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., also at the Concorde Banquets, 20922 N. Rand Road.

After those open house events, the Lake County Regional Planning Commission will review the Dimucci proposal and make a recommendation to the Lake County Board. The county's zoning board of appeals will also weigh in on the proposal, offering its recommendation to the county board. The county board will make the final decision regarding the proposal.
