No Update Yet on Woodman's Market Proposal

Village officials met with representatives from Woodman's Markets, Kildeer and the Illinois Department of Transportation Oct. 14.

An update on the status of the is forthcoming pending the completion of discussions with Woodman's representatives, Village Administrator Bob Vitas said Tuesday.

Officials from Lake Zurich, Kildeer, the Illinois Department of Transportation and Woodman's met Oct. 14 to discuss Woodman's desire to construct a signalized intersection on Rand Road. IDOT hasn't yet granted that intersection because the intersection would be within a quarter mile of another intersection, which violates IDOT's guidelines.

Headquartered in Janesville, WI, Woodman's wants to construct a store on the vacant land just north of the Atrium Garden Center, on the east side of Rand Road. Though technically located in Kildeer, the village of Lake Zurich would share in the store's sales tax revenues due to a recently-amended annexation agreement between Kildeer and Lake Zurich.

Those projected sales tax revenues remain confidential. The project could, however, add 250 jobs to the area, Vitas has said.
