Lake Zurich Picks Up Island Lake Dispatch

Additional dispatch revenue to make up for loss of service to Deer Park.

The Lake Zurich Village Board approved a plan to provide police dispatch services for the village of Island Lake, at Monday’s village board meeting.

The Lake Zurich Public Safety Answering Point/ Dispatch Center currently has a contract to provide dispatch for Hawthorn Woods and Kildeer. However, when Kildeer lost its contract with Deer Park for police services, the number of dispatch calls were reduced; this resulted in a loss of revenue for Lake Zurich.

Lake Zurich Police Chief Patrick Finlon said it was good opportunity to make up for the shortfall; he said the revenue should be a little more than the revenue lost from Deer Park.

Lake Zurich will charge Island Lake  $9,309 per month in the first year. Fees in subsequent years would be calculated on the current fee structure with Hawthorn Woods and Kildeer and would be based on the number of dispatch incidents in the preceding year.

There would be no additional personnel required, Finlon said.
