Now, the village’s Board of Trustees is starting the discussion again. A special board meeting will be held at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, October 5 at village hall, 70 E. Main Street.
The village board meeting will be streamed live on Lake Zurich’s website.
Lake Zurich worked with the Metropolitan Planning Council and other groups on a study looking into developing a water supply, storm water and resource management plan in 2011. Lake Zurich uses a municipal well water system and the aquifer is not recharging fast enough to meet demand, officials have said.
The Illinois Department of Natural Resource has approved Lake Zurich to obtain Lake Michigan water, but the village has not made a decision to tap into the Lake nor has it decided how to pay for the multimillion project.
