Harlem Wizards Event, Author Visit This Week

What's coming up this week?

Here's a look at some events coming up this week in town:

  • The "Lake Zurich Magic" will take on the Harlem Wizards at 6:30 p.m. April 30 in the Field House. The "Lake Zurich Magic" is made up of staff members. The event will feature comedy combined with basketball. Tickets can be purchased on the District 95 Educational Foundation website or at the door.
  • The is kicking off a children's bookmark decorating contest. Children can pick up an entry form, which includes the "Reading is Delicious" theme and the bookmark template, at the children's reference desk. Entries will be accepted through May 25, and copies of the winning bookmark will be given out during the library's summer reading program.
  • The Lake Zurich Plan Commission will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. May 2 to discuss a proposed special use permit for an automobile driving school at 45 S. Old Rand Road. The meeting will be held at village hall.
  • David Carter, author and illustrator of "Builder Bugs: A Busy Pop-Up Book," will visit the Ela Area Public Library at 4:15 p.m. May 3. Carter will also sign copies of his latest book, which will be available for purchase thanks to the Lake Forest Book Store. Registration is required for this program.   • will present its spring musical, "The King and I," at 7 p.m. May 3-5. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.
