Windows Smashed in Outbreak of Lake Zurich Car Burglaries

Commander David Bradstreet says police believe recent car burglaries are the work of crews.

A car burglar smashed the windows of vehicles parked on the 200 block of Rosehall Drive in Concord Village in Lake Zurich’s most recent rash of car burglaries.

According to the Lake Zurich police blotter, the incidents occurred overnight on Nov. 20 and four cars were burglarized. One car was unlocked and the offender took a wallet with an estimated loss of $75.

The other three vehicles were locked so the offender(s) smashed the side windows. The total estimated loss for all three vehicles was more than $3,000, which includes damage to the vehicles. The burglars took a laptop, as well as credit cards.

Lake Zurich Police Commander David Bradstreet said the burglaries do not appear to be related to a rash of car burglaries in October. The October car burglars took advantage of unlocked cars only.

“It appears that these are separate and distinct crews,” Bradstreet said. He said the Lake Zurich police work with other area departments to try to solve vehicle burglaries that appear to be committed by an organized crew.

Bradstreet said police have a suspect in the Nov. 20 car burglaries.

“We know that there are multiple crews out there,” he said.
