Smoke Cancels Seth Paine School Open House

Electrical smoke scare closes school, but all clear and open house rescheduled.

Smoke in the electrical room at Seth Paine Elementary School set off the school’s fire alarm, late in the afternoon, on Wednesday. The Lake Zurich Fire Department was called and the building was evacuated. The scheduled school Open House was cancelled to allow time for a safety check by an electrician.

“It was no big deal at all, but they had to cancel the activity that night because they weren’t sure how long it was going to take for the electrician to check it out,” said Capt. Mike Szydelko..

After the electrician’s inspection, the Lake Zurich Fire Department cleared the school to reopen for students on Thursday.
