Retail Thefts, Domestic Battery and Unruly Drivers Lead to Arrests

Lake Zurich Police Department reports crimes from January 28-Feb. 3.

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Driving With An Invalid License

Marisol Aguado-Quintana, 36, of 1604 Barberry, Mount Prospect, was arrested at 6:01 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 3, for driving with no valid drivers license pursuant to a traffic crash investigation on Route 12 at Ela Road, police reports said. Aguado-Quintana was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving without a valid driver’s license, according to police reports. Aguado-Quintana was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and issued a Wednesday, March 2, court date in Mundelein.

Vacuum Cleaners Stolen

Someone stole two Dyson vacuums worth $1,299.98 from Kohl’s in the 600 block of North Rand Road on Jan. 31, a person reported to police at 11:47 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 3, according to police reports.  The subject left Kohl’s via an emergency exit.  A suspect has been identified and the matter is under investigation.

Driving With An Invalid License

Jennie E. Zavaleta, 20, of 1565 North Winslowe Drive, Palatine, was arrested at 7:06 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 1, for driving with no valid drivers license pursuant to a traffic crash investigation on South Old Rand Road at South Buesching Road, police reports said. Zavaleta was charged with failure to yield while turning left and driving without a valid driver’s license, according to police reports.  Zavaleta was released on a $1,50 personal recognizance bond and issued a Wednesday, March 2, court date in Mundelein.

Driving With a Suspended License

Thomas M. Kulis, 50, of 806 S. Lily Lake Rd., McHenry, was arrested at 8:21 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 30, for driving with a suspended driver’s license on Quentin Road at Route 12, police reports said.  A random registration check indicated the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license and Kulis was then charged with driving while driver’s license is suspended, according to police reports. Kulis was issued a Wednesday, March 2, court date Mundelein and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.  

Domestic Battery

Michael L. Jordan, 43, of 201 S. Buesching Rd., was arrested at 10:38 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 30, for domestic battery in the 200 block of S. Buesching Road, police reports said.  Jordan struck his girlfriend several times and resisted the officers while being placed under arrest, according to police reports. Jordan was charged with domestic battery, unlawful interference with a 911 call, criminal damage to property and resisting arrest, police reports said. Jordan was held at the Lake Zurich Police Department to await a bond hearing.

Zero Tolerance, Speeding

Raymond D. Martinez, 20, of 23961 N. Quentin Rd., was stopped at 4:08 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 30, for speeding and found to be in violation of the Zero Tolerance statute, police reports said. Martinez had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and was charged with speeding and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, according to police reports. Martinez was issued a Wednesday, March 2, court date in Mundelein and released after posting his driver’s license.

Retail Theft

Corey A. Patterson, 21, of 2339 N. Samson Way, Waukegan, was arrested at 2:44 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 29, for retail theft at Walmart, 820 S. Rand Rd., police reports said. Patterson removed merchandise offered for sale without paying for the items, according to police reports. The value of the items is unknown. Patterson was charged with one count of retail theft, according to police reports. Patterson was issued a Friday, Feb. 18, court date in Waukegan and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.  

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

Scott N. Sprinkle, 52, of 750 Red Bridge Rd., was arrested at 11:17 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 29, for driving under the influence in the 700 block of Red Bridge Road, police reports said.  Sprinkle was called in as a possible DUI driver, wwas stopped for speeding and charge with speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol, according to police reports. Sprinkle was issued a Monday, Feb. 28, court date in Waukegan court and released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond. 

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

Erika T. Vavrik, 37, of 1221 41st St., La Grange, was arrested at 2:34 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 29, for driving under the influence on Route 12 at S. Old Rand Road, police reports said. Vavrik was stopped for improper lane usage, failed field sobriety testing and was charged with improper lane usage, speeding, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the Influence with a blood alcohol content of more than 0.08, according to police reports.  Vivrik was issued a Monday, March 7, court date in Waukegan and released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond.  

Retail Theft

Guadalupe Morales, 28, of 660 E. Liberty St. #202, Wauconda, was arrested at 7:33 p.m., Friday, Jan. 28, for retail theft at Kohl’s Department Store, 675 N. Rand Rd., police reports said.  Morales removed merchandise valued at $177 without paying for the items and was charged with one count of retail theft, according to police reports.  Morales was issued Friday, March 4, court date in Mundelein and released on a $120 personal recognizance bond.
