Police Blotter: Trespassing; Traffic Arrests

The Lake Zurich Police Department reports crimes and arrests from Feb. 4 to Feb. 6.

These incidents were listed among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Alcohol

David A. Cross, 48, of 39 Lippincott Road, Fox Lake, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol Feb. 4 on the 1100 block of South Old Rand Road. He also was cited with driving with a blood-alcohol content greater than .08 and endangering the life of a child. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a March 5 court date.

Traffic

Bryor T. Renz, 20, of 40 Lake Zurich Drive, Lake Zurich, was charged with driving without a valid driver’s license Feb. 6 near June Terrace and Route 12. He also was cited with operating a vehicle without headlamps when required and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending a March 16 court date.

Fred J. Straza, 29, of 23577 N. Cottage Road, Lake Zurich, was charged with driving while license suspended Feb. 3 near Route 12 and Miller Road. He also was cited with operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending a March 7 court date.

Silvestre Guerrero, 21, of 905 Winnetka Terrace No. 4, Lake Zurich, was charged with driving without a valid driver’s license Feb. 3 near Oak and Beauteau Streets. He also was cited with speeding. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a March 2 court date.

Trespassing

Two men were charged with trespassing Feb. 2 in a parking lot on the 500 block of South Rand Road. Police arrested Rick Maaning, 56, and Ronald Maaning, 52, both of 1900 S. Vine St., Park Ridge. Police said the two men were in the parking lot after being served with a no-trespass notice. Rick was charged with trespassing and resisting a peace officer, and Ronald was charged with trespassing. Both were released on $1,500 personal recognizance bonds pending a Feb. 21 court date.

Criminal Trespass to Vehicle

A woman reported Feb. 4 that someone looked through her unlocked vehicle while it was parked on the 100 block of Sussex Court. Nothing was missing from the vehicle.

A man reported Feb. 4 that two men and a woman were seen running away from his vehicle while it was parked on the 900 block of Pembridge Road. A neighbor had alerted the man about the individuals. Nothing was missing from the vehicle.

Criminal Damage

An individual reported Feb. 2 that a gray Buick drove in circles and left tire marks on the pavement at 47 Church St. The individual said the passenger of the Buick had an orange Mohawk. Police are investigating. 

Theft

An individual reported Feb. 4 that two men and a woman stole money by repeatedly requesting change from a store cashier. Police are investigating.
 
Deceptive Practice

A man reported Feb. 3 that his mother sent $11,400 to Mexico via Western Union after a man called her, posing as her grandson, and requested the money. Police are investigating.
