Police Blotter: Thefts, Burglaries and Property Damage

These incidents were among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

 

Retail Theft

Dakota M. Van Leeuwen, 19, 28223 North Garland Rd., Wauconda,  was arrested for retail theft at 725 Rte. 22, Lake Zurich, at 6:49 p.m., May 17  She stole $74.13 worth of clothing.  Van Leeuwen was arrested and charged with theft.  She was released on a $120 personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of July  6.

On May 15, Amanda M. Christoph, 19, 28028 N. Wells Drive, Wauconda, was arrested for retail theft at 820 S. Rand Road in Lake Zurich.  The estimated loss is valued at $83.68.  Christoph was charged with one count of local retail theft. Christoph was issued a Mundelein court date of July 6 and released on a $120 personal recognizance bond.

Theft of Exhaust Stack

Police received a call on May 16 that someone removed a 21-foot long stainless steel environmental exhaust stack without permission in the 900 block of Ensell Road in Lake Zurich.  The estimated loss is valued at $4,500.  This matter is pending further investigation.    

Theft

Police received a report that someone stole approximately $1,000, May 13, from an unlocked room in the 100 block of South Buesching Road.  The complainant could not provide any suspect information.

A complainant reported, on May 18, that she recently discovered three pieces of jewelry missing from her bedroom in the 200 block of Red Bridge Road.  The loss is estimated at $10,000.  This matter is under investigation. 

On May 20, a person reported someone stole her purse after she left it unattended at a restaurant in the 800 block of West Highway 22.  The loss is estimated at $650  Further action pending.  

 

Burglary to Vehicle

On May 16, a person reported someone entered his unlocked vehicle without permission and removed a radar detector while it was parked in the 200 block of Forest Drive in Lake Zurich.  The estimated loss is valued at $100.00.  This matter is pending further investigation.       

Also on May 16, a person reported someon entered his unlocked vehicle without permission and removed a GPS while it was parked in the 100 block of Ash Street in Lake Zurich.  The estimated loss is valued at $20.  This matter is pending further investigation.  

On May 20, a person reported to police that someone entered his unlocked vehicle in the 700 block of Cypress Bridge and removed personal property.  Loss is estimated at $20.  This matter is under investigation.  

 

Garage Burglary

On May 16, a woman reported someone entered her garage without permission and removed a GPS from inside her vehicle in the 200 block of Parkway in Lake Zurich.  The estimated loss is valued at $150.  This matter is pending further investigation.    

 

Criminal Damage to Property

Police received a report, on May 16, of damaged playground equipment in the 100 block of Miller Road in Lake Zurich.  The estimated damage is valued at $150.  This matter is pending further investigation.  

There was a report that someone defaced and damaged playground equipment at Manor Park, 5 Miller Road, May 12.  This matter is under investigation.   

Police received a report that someone damaged tee box signs, golf ball washers and the green flags without permission in the 500 block of N. Old Rand Road in Lake Zurich.  The estimated damage is valued at $500. 

Police received a report of damage to the Lake Zurich High School football field on May 13. Someone had used spray paint on the field.

 

Mailboxes Knocked Over

On May 20, a resident reported that someone damaged her mailbox in the 500 block of Shaker Lane by knocking it down during the overnight hours.   Officers discovered five additional mailboxes damaged in the neighborhood.  Total loss for the damaged mailboxes is $300.  Further action pending.
