Police Blotter: Theft and Traffic Arrests

These incidents were among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

 

 

RETAIL THEFT

Two juveniles, a 14-year-old male from Lake Zurich and a 16-year-old male from Deer Park were arrested for retail theft at 820 S. Rand Road, WalMart, on Aug. 14, at 8:26 p.m.  The juveniles removed $49.97 in merchandise without paying for the items.  Both juveniles were released to their parents.  Further action pending. 

THEFT

A man reported to police, on Aug. 11, that someone stole his cell phone and wallet while he was in the 100 block of N. Old Rand Road.  The estimated loss is valued at $480.  This matter is pending investigation. 

  

TRAFFIC ARREST (Driving While License Suspended)          

On Aug. 15, at 12:50 a.m., David M. Menditto, 43, who resides at 27W032 Cooley Ave., Apt A, in Winfield was arrested for driving while driver’s license is suspended on Route 12 at Route 22.  A random registration check indicated the registered owner possessed an expired driver’s license.  Menditto was charged with Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Driving While Driver’s License is Suspended.  Menditto was issued a Mundelein court date of Sept. 7 and released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond. 

 

On Aug. 13, at 5:39 p.m., Ryan C. Dacey, 18, who resides at 1248 Bradwell Lane in Mundelein, was arrested for driving while driver’s license is suspended on Midlothian Road at Oakwood Road.  Dacey was involved in a traffic crash.  Dacey was charged with Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident and Driving While Driver’s License is Suspended.  Dacey was issued a Mundelein court date of Sept. 7 and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond. 

 

Oscar Castillo, 30, who resides at 4408 Prairie Avenue in McHenry, was arrested for driving while driver’s license is suspended on Route 12 at N. Old Rand Road, Aug. 11.  A random registration check indicated the registered owner possessed a suspended driver’s license.  Castillo was charged with Driving While Driver’s License is Suspended.  Castillo was issued a Mundelein court date of Sept. 7 and released after posting $150 cash bond. 

 

TRAFFIC ARREST (NO VALID)                             

On Aug. 11, at 7:37 p.m., Steven S. Schumacher, 20, who resides at 612 E. Liberty Street in Wauconda, was arrested for driving with no valid driver’s license on S. Old Rand Road at Route 22.  Schumacher was stopped for failure to signal when required.  Schumacher was charged with Failure to Signal When Required and Driving with No Valid Driver’s License.  Schumacher was issued a Mundelein court date of Sept. 7 and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond. 

 

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

 Police received a report that unknown subject(s) damaged the exterior mirrors on a vehicle while it was parked in the 900 block of N. Rand Road, Aug. 12.  The damage was estimated at $1,000. This matter is pending investigation.  

On Aug. 12, someone damaged a resident’s mailbox and mailbox post in the 200 block of East Lane, and the mailbox and post was set on fire.  The damage was estimated at $150.  The matter is pending investigation. 

Police took a report that unknown subject(s) damaged the exterior window trim on a vehicle while it was parked in the 200 block of S. Bueshing Road, Aug. 12.  No estimate for the damage was available.  This matter is pending investigation

 

BURGLARY TO VEHICLE               

On Aug. 12, police received a report that unknown subject(s) entered an unlocked vehicle while it was parked in the 300 block of Denberry Drive and removed a silver iPod Classic valued at $300.00.  The matter is pending investigation. 

 

DISORDERLY CONDUCT/POSSESSION OF CANNABIS  

On Aug. 13, at 12 a.m., Robyn L. Martin, 32, who resides at 1015 Oakleaf Avenue, McHenry, was arrested for local ordinance Disordery Conduct (unlawful possession of cannabis) on Miller Road at Route 12.  Less than 2.5 grams of cannabis was located in Martin’s vehicle pursuant to a traffic altercation investigation.  Martin was issued a Mundelein court date Sept. 7  and released on a $120 personal recognizance bond.
