Police Blotter: Roadside Safety Check Results in DUI, Warrant Arrests
These incidents were among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.
Traffic Arrest (DUI)
At 11:06 p.m., Aug. 31, Todd L. Kafka, 44, 35 Riderwood Road, North Barrington, was arrested during the roadside safety check held at 400 Whitney Road. Kafka was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without a valid driver’s license. Kafka was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Oct. 1.

Traffic Arrest (No Valid)
Fernando Aquino, 51, 216 North Pleasant Road, Lake Zurich, was arrested during the roadside safety check held at 400 Whitney Road, Aug. 31. Aquino was charged with operating a vehicle without insurance and driving without a valid driver’s license. Aquino was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of Oct. 15.

Possession Cannabis
Rebecca C. Breakfield, 21, 704 West Area St., McHenry, was arrested during the roadside safety check held at 400 Whitney Road, Sept. 1 at 12:14 a.m. Breakfield was charged with disorderly conduct (local ordinance for possession of cannabis). Breakfield was released on a $120 personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of Oct. 5.
Traffic Arrest (No Valid)
On Sept. 1, at 1:07 a.m., Roberto Alcauter-Rodriguez, 35, 1720 Glenn Turtle Creek, Round Lake, was arrested pursuant to a traffic stop at 400 Oakwood Road. Alcauter-Rodriguez was charged with disobeying a traffic control device and driving without a valid driver’s license. Alcauter-Rodriguez was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of Oct. 5.
Traffic Arrest, Warrant Service
Christopher J. Kosmicki (21 yoa), 34860 North Rock Island, Ingleside, was arrested during the roadside safety check held at 400 Whitney Road, Sept. 1, at 2:22 a.m.. Kosmicki was charged with attempted obstruction of justice and driving with a suspended driver’s license. Kosmicki was also arrested on failure-to-appear warrants issued by Cook County. Kosmicki was to be transported to the Lake County Jail later today.
