Police Blotter: Retail Theft; Suitcase Stolen From Driveway

The Lake Zurich Police Department reports arrests and crimes from March 13 to March 16.

DUI

Renata Muldowney, 44, of 5757 N. Sheridan Road, No. 8E, Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol March 14 near South Old Rand Road and Route 22. She also was cited with operating an uninsured vehicle, illegally transporting open alcohol, failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failing to give information after striking property. She was given an April 9 court date.

Anne M. Smertenko, 35, of 24674 W. August Lane, Lake Zurich, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol March 15 near Route 12 and Honey Lake Road. She also was cited with improper lane use. She was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an April 16 court date.

Traffic

Jesus Ortiz, 25, of 816 Lexington Lane, Island Lake, was charged with driving while license suspended March 15 near Route 12 and Valentine Court. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending an April 20 court date.

Jose M. Limas-Lopez, 19, of 8 Oak Creek, No. 2806, Buffalo Grove, was charged with driving while license suspended March 14 near Route 12 and Wooded Ridge Drive. He also was cited with improper lane use. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending an April 20 court date.

Abdel Hurtado, 31, of 15 Jonathon Road, Lake Zurich, was charged with driving while license suspended March 13 on the 200 block of South Rand Road. He also was cited with operating a vehicle with suspended registration. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an April 4 court date.

Ross D. Earnest, 36, of 1002 Barberry Lane, Round Lake Beach, was charged with driving while license suspended March 13 near Routes 12 and 22. He also was cited with operating an uninsured vehicle and failing to wear a safety belt when required. He was released on $200 cash bond pending an April 20 court date.

Ramiro Gonzalez-Perez, 26, of 14 Pamela Road, Lake Zurich, was charged with driving without a valid driver’s license March 14 near Route 12 and Ela Road. He also was cited with failing to wear a safety belt when required. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending an April 20 court date.

Retail Theft

John D. Laurie, 20, and Melissa A. Pelayo, 18, both of 305 Albert Terrace, Wheeling, were each charged with theft March 14 on the 600 block of North Rand Road. Police said a store's loss-prevention personnel reported that Laurie and Pelayo fled the store after stealing shorts, a cellphone charger and chocolate. Both were cited with theft; Laurie also was cited with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were released on $1,500 personal recognizance bonds pending an April 20 court date.
 
Theft

A woman reported March 14 that someone stole her unattended camera on the 300 block of Surryse Road. 

An individual reported March 12 that someone stole a suitcase from a driveway on the 200 block of Sandy Point. The suitcase, which was mistakenly left in the driveway overnight, contained clothing, jewelry and gifts. 

Criminal Damage

A woman reported March 12 that someone broke a window on her vehicle while it was parked on the 200 block of South Buesching Road.
