Police Blotter: Retail Theft and Car Burglaries

These incidents were among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

 

Theft (Retail)                                   

 John W. Kempf, 80, 27952 North Darrell Road, Wauconda, was arrested and charged with theft from Goodwill, 746 South Rand Road, Lake Zurich, on Sept. 17.  Kempf was released on a $120 personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of Oct. 15.

On Sept. 18, Kenyatta I. Williams, 30, 201 South Buesching Road, #228, Lake Zurich, was arrested for retail theft at Target, 555 South Rand Road.  Williams was charged with retail theft and was in custody pending a bond hearing. 

Ernesto Ortiz, 42, 2606 West Division Street, Chicago, was arrested for retail theft at Kohl's, 675 North Rand Road, Lake Zurich, Sept. 18.  Ortiz was charged with retail theft and driving with a suspended driver’s license.  Ortiz was in custody pending a bond hearing.

On Sept. 19, Dalasini S. Cummings, 35, 1001 Heartwood Lane, Lake Zurich, was arrested for retail theft at Wal-Mart. Cummings was arrested and charged with theft.  Cummings was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Oct. 22.

Criminal Damage                            

A person reported that someone damaged her vehicle by striking the side of it with a liquor bottle on Sept. 18.  The damage occurred during the overnight hours while the vehicle was parked in the driveway in the 900 block of Country Club Road.  The complainant was unable to provide any suspect information.  

 

Burglary – Motor Vehicle                    

On Sept. 18, police received a report from a woman that someone entered her unlocked vehicle during the overnight hours and removed her purse.  The vehicle was parked in the driveway in the 1200 block of Berkshire Lane.  The complainant was unable to provide any suspect information. 

 

A man reported that someone entered his unlocked vehicle during the overnight hours, Sept. 18, and removed his GPS unit and a power cord.  The vehicle was parked in the driveway in the 1100 block of Donegal Lane.  The complainant was unable to provide any suspect information.
