Police Blotter: Garage Burglary and Retail Thefts

These incidents were among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

 

Retail Theft 

Daniel Dote, 48, of 570 Timberwood Drive in Lake Zurich, was arrested for retail theft at Walmart, 820 S. Rand Road in Lake Zurich, on June 22, at 8:12 p.m.  The estimated loss is valued at $190.  Dote was charged with one count of local retail theft.  Dote was issued a Mundelein branch court date of Aug. 3 and released on a $120 personal recognizance bond.

On June 23, at 1:39 p.m., Kathleen M. Davis, 42, of 24459 Valentine Court in Lake Zurich, was arrested for retail theft at Walmart, 820 S. Rand Road in Lake Zurich.  The estimated loss is valued at $20.88.  Davis was charged with one count of local retail theft.  Davis was issued a Mundelein branch court date of Aug. 3 and released on a $120 personal recognizance bond.   

Heather A. Dato, 19, who resides at 28177 W. Savannah Trail in Lake Barrington, was arrested for retail theft at 820 S. Rand Road, WalMart, June 21, at 1:52 p.m..  Dato removed some merchandise without paying for the items.  The estimated loss is valued at $129.01.  Dato was charged with one count of local retail theft.  Dato was issued a Waukegan court date of July 13 and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.

Theft of I-Pod

Police received a report on June 23 that unknown subject(s) removed an I-Pod without permission from a backpack at 1025 Old McHenry Road in Lake Zurich.  The estimated loss is valued at $248.  This matter is pending investigation. 

Air Compressor Theft 

Police took a report on June 18 that someone removed the compressor for the air conditioner from the roof in the 800 block of Oakwood Road after December 2011.  This matter is under investigation. 

Garage Burglary                       

  A resident reported on June 21 that unknown subject(s) entered his garage in the 100 block of W. Harbor Drive and removed personal property.  The estimated loss is approximately $2,000.  This matter is pending further investigation.    

               

Traffic Arrest (No Valid)                           

Carolina Bavlon, 28, 635 Ivy Court Lake Zurich, was arrested for driving with no valid driver’s license pursuant to a traffic stop on Pheasant Ridge Road at South Old Rand Road, June 20, at 10:35 a.m.  Bavlon was charged with operating a vehicle with a defective windshield and driving without a valid driver’s license.  Bavlon was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of Aug. 3.

 

Criminal Damage                                        

A person reported that unknown subject(s) damaged her vehicle during the overnight hours, June 19, while it was parked in the 200 block of Knox Park Road.  The damage included a broken rear taillight and an unidentified substance poured in the fuel tank.  Value of the loss is unknown.  Further action pending.

 Also on June 19, a complainant reported that unknown subject(s) damaged the hood of his vehicle while the vehicle was parked in the 800 block of South Rand Road.  Damage estimated at $350.  Further action pending. 

A resident reported his mailbox was damaged during the overnight hours, June 18, in the 700 block of Cypress Bridge Road.  No suspect information is available.  No offenders were located.

 

Criminal Trespass - Vehicle        

A person reported on June 18 that someone entered her unsecured vehicle, looked through the contents and broke 10 cigarettes while the vehicle was parked in the 600 block of North Rand Road.  This matter is under investigation.
