Police Blotter: DUIs, Traffic Arrest Leads to Warrant Service

These incidents were among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

TRAFFIC ARRESTS (DUI)                             

Elizabeth Pilaski, 31, who resides at 26389 N. Route 83 in Mundelein, was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 12 at June Terrace in Lake Zurich, Jan. 20.  Pilaski was charged with Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Driving While Driver’s License is Suspended and Driving Under the Influence.  Pilaski was issued a Waukegan court date of Feb. 11 and released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond. 

On Jan. 20, William M. Martin, 48 , who resides at 1019 Woodview Court in Aurora, was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 12 at Route 22 in Lake Zurich. Martin was charged with Driving in Wrong Lane and Driving Under the Influence - Combination.  Martin was issued a Waukegan court date of Feb. 25 and released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond.

On Jan. 19, Salvador Ortega, 25, who resides at 1311 N. Hickory Avenue in Round Lake Beach,  was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 12 at N. Old Rand Road in Lake Zurich.  Ortega was charged with Improper Lane Usage, No Valid Driver’s License, Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle and Driving Under the Influence.  Ortega was issued a Waukegan court date of Feb. 25 and released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond. 

TRAFFIC ARREST (DWLR)/WARRANT

Cesario Velazquez, 39, who resides at 201 S. Buesching Road #231 in Lake Zurich, was arrested for driving while driver’s license is revoked at 1125 S. Old Rand Road in Lake Zurich, on Jan. 19.   Velazquez was charged with Defective Windshield and Driving While Driver’s License is Revoked.  Velazquez was also arrested on a warrant for Unlawful Use of Credit Card.  The warrant number is W13A5147 and the bond amount was set at $100,000, which 10 percent applies.  Velazquez was unable to post the necessary cash bond and was held at the Lake Zurich Police Department to await a bond hearing.   

TRAFFIC ARREST (DWLS)                           

Alejandro Tapia, 29, who resides at 1638 Rainbow Bay Lane in Palatine, was arrested for driving while driver’s license is suspended on Route 12 at Quentin Road in Lake Zurich, Jan. 19.   Tapia was charged with Registration Suspended for Non-Insurance and Driving While Driver’s License is Suspended.  Tapia was issued a Mundelein court date of March 1and released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond. 

On Jan. 18, Matthew J. Welchman, 23, who resides at 31587 Borre Drive in Lakemoor,  was arrested for driving while driver’s license is suspended on Miller Road at Route 12 in Lake Zurich. Welchman was charged with Failure to Wear Safety Belt, Operation of an Uninsured Motor, Registration Suspended for Non-Insurance, Disorderly Conduct and Driving While Driver’s License is Suspended.  Welchman was issued a Mundelein court date of March 1 and released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond. 

On Jan. 19, Yonnathan A. Ortega-Suarez, 23 yoa) who resides at 310 W. Main Street in Wauconda,  was arrested for driving while driver’s license is suspended on N. Old Rand Road at E. Main Street in Lake Zurich.   Ortega-Suarez was charged with Operation of an Uninsured Motor and Driving While Driver’s License is Suspended.  Ortega-Suarez was issued a Mundelein court date of March 1 and released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond.  

THEFT                                                                       

Police received a report, on Jan. 19, that someone removed a wallet from a purse at Monkey Joe’s, 748 S. Rand Road in Lake Zurich.  The estimated loss is valued at $100.  This matter is pending further investigation. 

 

BURGLARY TO MV                                        

Police received a report, on Jan. 19, that someone broke the window and removed a radar detector from a vehicle while it was parked in the 300 block of North Rand Road in Lake Zurich.  The estimated loss is valued at $400.  This matter is pending further investigation. 

 

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY                                                              

Police received a report  of a damaged mailbox in the 100 block of Harbor Drive in Lake Zurich, Jan. 19.  The estimated loss is valued at $100.  This matter is pending further investigation. 

 

Police received a report  that someone damaged the mirror of a vehicle while it was parked in the 400 block of Waterford Drive in Lake Zurich, Jan. 19.  The estimated loss is valued at $150.  This matter is pending further investigation.
