Police Blotter: DUIs and Revoked Licenses

These incidents were among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

 Traffic Arrests (DUI)                        

Matthew M. Mahaffey, 35, 106 Lake Lane, Oakwood Hills,  was arrested on Route 12 at Miller Road, July 10, at 3:10 a.m.  Mahaffey was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and improper lane usage.  Mahaffey was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Aug. 13.

Enrique Garcia, 36, of 7500 Elmhurst Road Lot 120 in Des Plaines, was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 12 at Ela Road, July 8, at 12:22 a.m.  Garcia was stopped for improper lane usage.  Garcia failed field sobriety testing.  Garcia was charged with Improper Lane Usage, Failure to Signal When Required, Driving While Driver’s License is Suspended and Driving Under the Influence.  Garcia was issued a Waukegan court date of Aug. 13 and released after posting $300 cash bond.

Timothy J. Mueller, 44, who resides at 222 Pine Tree Row in Lake Zurich, was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 12 at Route 22, July 6, at 12:11 a.m.  Mueller was stopped for improper lane usage.  Mueller failed field sobriety testing.  Mueller was charged with Improper Lane Usage, Driving Under the Influence and Operation of an Uninsured Motor vehicle.  Mueller was issued a Waukegan court date of Aug. 13 and released on $3,000 personal recognizance bond. 

Keith A. Kielnik, 37, 3812 North Claremont #1, Chicago,  was arrested in the 1100 block of  South Rand Road, July 3, at 11:06 p.m..  Kielnik was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failing to wear a safety belt when required and improper lane usage.  Kielnik was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Aug. 6.

Ganesh Vennela, 26, 1641 Hunter Drive #1A, Wheeling, was arrested during a traffic stop in the 300 block of South Rand Road, July 4, at 1:45 a.m..  Vennela was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 and improper lane usage.  Vennela was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Aug. 13.

Peter A. Lehner, 28, 2468 Evergreen Circle, McHenry, was arrested on June Terrace at Route 12, July 4, at 1:50 a.m.  Lehner was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage.  Lehner was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Aug. 13.

 Traffic Arrests (Revoked License) 

Rebecca L. Perez, 34, 961 Emerald Drive, Pingree Grove, was during a traffic stop in the 23500 block of Echo Lake Road, July 2, at 3:49 p.m..  Perez was charged with improper lane usage, failing to signal when required, attempting to escape, attempted obstruction of justice and driving with a revoked driver’s license.  The charges of driving with a revoked license were upgraded to a Class 4 felony and Perez was taken into custody pending a bond hearing. 

Juan M. Vilaro, 31, 801 Sheridan Drive, Wauconda,  was arrested pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 12 at Bailey Lane, July 6, at 12:30 a.m.  Vilaro was charged with operating a motorcycle with illegal handlebars, operating an uninsured vehicle and driving with a revoked driver’s license.  Vilaro was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of Aug. 3.
