Police Blotter: DUIs And Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia

These incidents were among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA

At 1:52 Aug. 27, Christopher G. Carlberg, 26, 25686 North Stoney Kirk Court, Hawthorn Woods, was arrested pursuant to a traffic stop on Cuba Road at Route 12. Carlberg was charged with improper lane usage and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.  Carlberg was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Sept. 18.

TRAFFIC ARREST (DUI)

At 10:10 a.m. Aug. 26, Michael R. Bond, 25, 780 Harvest Drive, Lake Zurich, was arrested pursuant to a traffic stop on Oakwood Road at Commerce Drive.  Bond was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and two counts of improper lane usage.  Further charges may be filed pending the results of laboratory analysis.  Bond was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Sept. 24.  

At 8:13 p.m. Aug. 24, Anne Bain, 67, 207 Foxfire Road, Lake Zurich, was arrested pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 12 at South Old Rand Road.  Bain was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content greater than 0.08 and obstructing traffic.  Bain was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Sept. 24.

TRAFFIC ARREST (N0 VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE)

At 9:06 a.m. Aug. 25, Alejandro Tapia, 28, 1638 East Rainbowbay Lane, Palatine, was arrested pursuant to the investigation of a traffic crash on Route 12 at Ela Road.  Tapia was charged with failing to reduce speed to avoid a crash, operating an uninsured vehicle and driving without a valid driver’s license.  Tapia was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of Oct. 5. 

At 10:32 Aug. 26, Daria R. Smoter, 37, 489 Blakely Parkway, Barrington, was arrested pursuant to the investigation of a traffic crash in the 100 block of West Main Street.  Smoter was charged with making an improper turn and driving without a valid driver’s license.  Smoter was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of Oct. 5.
