Police Blotter: DUI, Stolen Construction Materials

The Lake Zurich Police Department reports crimes from June 18-20.

The Lake Zurich Police Department listed these incidents among its official reports. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

DUI

James E. Wanserki, 60, of 3102 Windflower Lane, Wausau, Wis., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol June 18 on the 200 block of South Rand Road. He was also cited with driving with a blood-alcohol content greater than .08, failure to signal when required and improper lane usage. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a July 18 court date.

William M. Smith, 27, of 121 E. Grand Ave., Fox Lake, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol June 19 near Route 12 and Rugby Road. He also was cited with driving with a blood-alcohol content greater than .08, following too closely and improper lane usage. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a July 25 court date.

Traffic

Terry M. Kelly, 61, of 1 Lakeside Lane, No. 2, Fox Lake, was charged with driving while license suspended June 17 near Route 12 and Ela Road. He also was cited with failure to wear a safety belt when required. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a July 6 court date.

Katarzyna Twarowska, 18, of 690 West Hill Road, Palatine, was charged with driving with no valid driver’s license June 17 near Route 12 and Quentin Road. Twarowska also was cited with improper lane usage. Twarowska was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a July 6 court date.

David R. Brandon, 41, of 724 Inland Circle, No. 102, Naperville, was charged with driving while license suspended June 18 on the 1100 block of South Rand Road. He also was cited with failure to wear a safety belt when required and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending a July 6 court date.

Daniel V. Demaio, 23, of 560 Regency Drive, Lake Zurich, was charged with failure to give information after striking property June 19 near Orchard Pond Court and Regency Drive. A passerby reported that Demaio's vehicle struck a tree. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a July 15 court date.

Jose D. Ventura, 18, of 39 Oakwood Road, Wauconda, was charged with driving with no valid driver’s license June 19 on the 500 block of West Highway 22. He also was cited with disobeying a traffic control device and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 5 court date.

Theft

A business owner reported June 19 that someone stole 30 sheets of plywood from a business on the 100 block of East Main Street. The plywood was valued at $480. Police are investigating the matter.

An individual reported June 20 that someone in a gray Buick stole a construction horse from the 1000 block of Partridge Lane. Police are investigating the matter.
