Police Blotter: Car Burglaries, Thefts and DUIs

These incidents were among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

BURGLARY TO MOTOR VEHICLE                                            

On Aug. 19, a person reported an unknown subject(s) removed his television from his vehicle without permission while it was parked in the 800 block of South Rand Road in Lake Zurich.  The estimated loss is valued at $591.23.  This matter is pending investigation. 

At 10:21 p.m., Aug. 17,  a person reported that four white male juveniles removed his wallet from his unlocked vehicle while the vehicle was parked in the 200 block of Linden Road.  The complainant located his wallet on the driveway after the juveniles fled.  Further action pending.

THEFT OF BEER AT JEWEL                                                                      

Police received a report of a subject in the restroom drinking a beer that he did not pay for at Jewel, 485 Ela Road in Lake Zurich, 6:33 p.m., Aug. 19.  The estimated loss is valued at $12.29.  The management at Jewel did not wish to pursue any criminal charges.

THEFT OF CELL PHONE

At 8:06 a.m., Aug. 18, Juan L. Pasillas, 26, 215 West Johnson #2B Palatine, was arrested for theft in the 500 block of America Court.  Complainant reports that her cell phone was stolen following a verbal dispute with Pasillas.  Pasillas was charged with theft and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Sept. 11. 

THEFT AT DOLLAR TREE

On Aug. 17,  Nicole M. Van Leeuwen, 22, 28223 North Garland Road Wauconda, was arrested for retail theft at 723 West Highway 22, Dollar Tree.  Van Leeuwen was seen removing merchandise from the store without paying for the items.  Van Leeuwen was charged with theft.  Van Leeuwen was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Sept. 10.

TRAFFIC ARRESTS (DUIs)                                   

At 7:01 p.m., Aug. 19, Mark A. Rhoades, 30, who resides at 9 N. Columbine Avenue in Lombard, was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 12 at Pheasant Ridge Road in Lake Zurich. Rhoades was charged with Improper Lane Usage, Following Too Close and Driving Under the Influence.  Rhoades was issued a Waukegan court date of Sept. 17 and released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond.                                

At 9:12 p.m., Aug. 19, George P. Karidas, 47, who resides at 510 S. George Street in Mount Prospect,  was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 12 at Bailey Road in Lake Zurich.  Karidas was charged with Improper Lane Usage, Driving Under the Influence and Driving Under the Influence with a B.A.C. of .08 or more.  Karidas was issued a Waukegan court date of Sept. 17 and released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond.            

 At 12:43 a.m., Aug. 18, Meghan A. Kuecker, 25, 260 Mira Way #106 Altomonte Springs, FL was arrested for DUI pursuant to a traffic stop in the 100 block of East Main Street.  Kuecker failed all field sobriety tests.  Kuecker was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08, speeding and operating an uninsured vehicle.  Kuecker was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of Sept. 10.
