Police Blotter: Bicycle Stolen, Vehicle Burglarized

The Lake Zurich Police Department reports crimes from June 28 - July 1.

The Lake Zurich Police Department listed these incidents among its official reports. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Drugs

Colin B. Steiger, 18, of 670 Red Bridge Road, Lake Zurich, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis June 28 near Red Bridge Road and Portree Lane. He also was cited with speeding. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a July 25 court date.

Traffic

Esther Luswili, 29, of 575 Shorely Drive, Barrington, was charged with driving with no valid driver’s license June 27 near Frontage and Deerpath roads. She also was cited with operating an uninsured motor vehicle and obstructing a peace officer. She was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending a July 27 court date.

Melanie E. Boyko, 24, of 1014 Highland Ave., Wauconda, was charged with driving while license suspended June 28 near Route 12 and Paulus Park. She was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a July 15 court date.

Criminal Damage

A resident reported June 27 that someone damaged her vehicle while it was parked on the 200 block of South Buesching Road. Damage was estimated at $200. Police are investigating.

An individual reported June 30 that someone burned playground equipment on the 500 block of Old Mill Grove Road. The damage was estimated at $500. Police are investigating.

Burglary

A man reported June 29 that someone punched the lock on his vehicle and removed some equipment valued at $465 while the vehicle was parked on the 100 block of East Harbor Drive. Police are investigating.

Theft

A resident reported June 28 that someone stole his bicycle, valued at $150, from the 800 block of South Rand Road. Police are investigating.  

An individual reported June 29 that someone stole her credit card holder, containing gift cards, from her unattended shopping cart while she was in a parking lot on the 600 block of North Rand Road. The estimated loss is $400. Police are investigating.
