Police Blotter: Battery, DUI and Warrant Arrests

The Lake Zurich Police Department reports crimes from May 24-27.

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

DUI

Neil R. Lester, 56, of 86 Barry Drive North, Highland Lakes, NJ, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol May 27 near Route 12 and Wooded Ridge Drive. He was also cited for driving with a BAC over .08 and speeding. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a June 27 court date.

Drugs

Kyle R. Peters, 25, of 2290 West Avenue 136th, San Leandro, CA, was charged with possession of cannabis May 23 near Cuba and Old Farm Roads. He was also cited for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a June 24 court date.

Traffic Violations

Norma Soto-Espitia, 33, of 9022 N. Cumberland Ave., Niles, was charged with not having a valid drivers license May 22 near Route 12 and Deerpath Road. She was also cited for not having a rear registration light and failure to properly secure a child under age 8. She was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a June 17 court date.

Charles M. Ensslin, 23, of 321 Lewis Ave., Wauconda, was charged with driving while license suspended May 25 near Route 12 and Ela Road. He was also cited for failure to wear a safety belt when required. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a July 6 court date.

Anthony B. Rivera-Ortiz, 21, of 404 Judith Drive, Island Lake, was charged with not having a valid drivers license May 25 near Route 12 and June Terrace. He was also cited for failure to wear a safety belt when required. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a July 6 court date.

Daniel A. Linder, 26, of 224 Butternut Lane, Streamwood, was charged with driving while license suspended May 25 near Routes 12 and 22. He was also cited for failure to wear a safety belt when required and operating an uninsured vehicle. He was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond pending a July 1 court date.

David M. Salak, 20, of 2383 Oak Hill Road, Lake Barrington, was charged with driving while license suspended May 25 near Route 12 and Miller Road. He was also cited for failure to wear a safety belt when required. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a June 17 court date.

Jennifer B. Sinclair, 36, of 28549 W. High Road, Ingleside, was charged with driving while license suspended May 26 near Routes 12 and 22. She was also cited for failure to wear a safety belt when required. She was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a July 6 court date.

Warrants

Kyle R. Peters, 25, of 2290 West Avenue 136th, San Leandro, CA, was arrested May 23 on a Cook County warrant for a conditional release violation. He posted $200 cash and was given a June 13 court date.

Willie T. Brooks, 39, of 622 Frederick Ave., Bellwood, was arrested May 25 on a Cook County warrant for failure to appear. He posted $500 cash bond and was given a June 15 court date.

Rick Haaning, 55, of 200 Rosehall No. 210, Lake Zurich, was arrested May 26 on a Lisle Police Department warrant for telephone harassment. He was held pending the arrival of officers from the Lisle Police Department.

Burglary

A woman reported May 25 that someone stole her Xbox 360 from her apartment in the 200 block of Buesching Road. Police are investigating the matter.

Battery

Thomas L. Marotta, 63, of 410 Willow Road, Wauconda, was charged with two counts of aggravated battery May 26 following a traffic altercation near Route 12 and Miller Road. Police said Marotta allegedly struck a motorist in the head with a flashlight. He was held for a bond hearing.

Fraud

An individual reported May 24 that a person approached their neighbor's home on the 500 block of Surryse Road and provided false information regarding home repairs. The person claimed that he was sent to the residence by a village representative, which was determined to be false. Police are investigating the matter.
