Police Blotter: DUI Arrests, Vandals Hit School

The Lake Zurich Police Department reports arrests and crimes from July 23-25.

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

DUI

Nathan P. Sciame, 19, of 335 Knox Park Road, Lake Zurich, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol July 23 near Pheasant Ridge Drive and Partridge Lane. He also was cited with improper lane use, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving with a blood-alcohol content over .08. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 22 court date.

Jose F. Cortes-Mendez, 24, of 31 Lake St., Lake Zurich, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol July 23 near North Old Rand Road and Oak Street. He also was cited with improper lane use, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and driving while license suspended. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 15 court date.

Warrant

Jose Hernandez, 31, of 45 Oak St. No. 1, Lake Zurich, was arrested July 23 on a $20,000 warrant for failure to appear on a DUI charge. He was held at the Lake Zurich Police Department to await a bond hearing.

Criminal Damage

An individual reported July 24 that someone broke two windows at a school on the 500 block of Old Mill Grove Road. Damage was estimated at $500. Police are investigating.
