Lake Zurich Police Arrest Driver for Hit and Run, DUI

A 41-year-old Mt. Prospect woman fled from a crash in Kildeer, police say, and was caught in Lake Zurich.

Lake Zurich police officers caught a woman, on Oct. 3, who was wanted for fleeing and eluding from the scene of a traffic crash in Kildeer, according to police reports.

Police apprehended the woman, at 7:51 p.m., near Walgreens at 910 Rand Rd. Police displayed their weapons because it was a hit and run, said Lake Zurich Deputy Police Chief Kevin Finlon. When it was determined that the woman was not armed, police withdrew their weapons, Finlon said.

Maureen A. Murray, 41, 1410 North Lama Lane Mount Prospect,  was charged with two felony counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, fleeing or attempting to elude, driving with a revoked driver’s license, operating an uninsured vehicle, illegal transportation of open alcohol and obstructing a peace officer, according to police reports.

Murray's bond was set at $25,000, Finlon said.

Kildeer Police Chief Lou Rossi said the crash was minor and there were no injuries. He said it occurred at  about 7:30 p.m., at Rand and Quentin roads. When the other person invovled in the crash got out of the car to attempt a report on the accident, Murray said there was no need for a report, got back in the car and took off, Rossi said. Rossi said Kildeer police wrote charges for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
