Officials Investigating Fatal Fire in Long Grove

The fire occurred in the garage of a home on the 5100 block of Bridlewood Lane in Long Grove.

Officials are investigating the cause of a Long Grove garage fire that left a 46-year-old man dead.

According to a press release from Lake County Sgt. Karen Kates, the Long Grove Fire Department and Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of smoke on the 5100 block of Arlington Heights Road at 9:28 a.m. When they arrived, they found a garage fire.

When the fire had been extinguished, "investigators discovered what is believed to be the body of a 46-year-old male resident of the home," said Kates. The victim's identity is being withheld at this time.

Lake County Sheriff's Office investigators and the state fire marshal are investigating the cause of the fire.

Editor's Note: Since this story first ran, the Lake County Sheriff's Office changed the address to Arlington Heights Road, not Bridlewood as previously repoted.
