More Charges Filed Against Long Grove Man in Fatal Crash

More charges have been filed against Stephen E. Tomczyk, 22, of Long Grove, who is accused of driving drunk during a traffic accident in Long Grove that killed Jeewon Kim, 47, of Buffalo Grove on Sept. 5, 2013, according to the Daily Herald.

A Lake County grand jury on Wednesday approved three additional charges of reckless homicide for Tomczyk, which means he now faces a total of six charges of reckless homicide in connection with Kim's death, according to the article.

The Daily Herald reports he also faces three charges of aggravated DUI resulting in great bodily harm and three counts of aggravated DUI resulting in a death.

The crash occurred near Route 83 and Westmoreland in Long Grove. A blue 2011 Honda CRV and a red 2007 Ford F150 collided in the intersection, said Sgt. Sara Balmes with the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Kim was driving the Honda CRV.

Portillo said Kim's daughter was a passenger in the Honda. She was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center for further treatment, Portillo said.
