Lake Zurich Police: Weekend Blotter Includes Five Vehicle Burglaries

Police also report theft, criminal damage, cannabis arrests.

Police continue investigating five motor vehicle burglaries that occurred over the weekend, according to reports.

The following burglaries were reported on June 23:

  • A cellular phone was taken from a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Oak Street.
  • A wallet and cash were taken from an unlocked vehicle in the 200 block of Cherokee Road.
  • A GPS unit was taken from a vehicle in the 100 block of Potawatomi Trail.
  • A wallet and GPS unit were taken from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 100 block of Mohawk Trail.
  • A radar detector was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 100 block of Mohawk Trail.

Retail theft                                                               

Debra L. Donofrio, 49, 316 West Forest Avenue, Round Lake, and Giovanni G. Avere, 79, of 241 West Main Street #106, Lake Zurich, were arrested for retail theft at 820 South Rand Road on June 22, police said, Donofrio and Avere were released on $1,500 personal recognizance bonds with a Waukegan court date of July 8.

Theft

Two iPhones were stolen from a home in the 100 block of Jean Terrace during a graduation party, police said. A report was taken on June 23.

Burglary -motor vehicle               

A resident reported someone entered her unlocked vehicle and took an iPod, a Nintendo DS, a cellular telephone charger and a bag containing a wallet and video games on June 21, police said.  The vehicle was parked in the 200 block of Rosehall Drive. 

Criminal Damage arrest

Peter A. Merker, 19, of 4624 South Hampton Road, Island Lake, was arrested for criminal damage to property at 197 South Rand Road on June 22, police said. Merker damaged a window, painting and two lamps at the Holiday Inn Express, reports stated. He was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property.  Merker was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of July 8.

Possession of cannabis arrest    

Bradley M. Iwicki, 20, of 21350 West Highland Drive, Lake Zurich, was arrested for possession of cannabis following a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Ensell Road on June 22, police said.  Iwicki was a passenger in the stopped vehicle and he possessed cannabis in plain view, police said.  Iwicki was charged with disorderly conduct, a local ordinance, reports stated. He was released on a $120personal recognizance bond with a Mundelein court date of July 12.
