Lake Zurich Police: DUIs, Possession of Cannabis, Theft Arrests

Note: The following information was obtained from the Lake Zurich police department. An arrest is only an accusation and does not constitute guilt. An individual can only be found guilty in a court of law.

Traffic arrest (DUI)
Gregorio Ramirez, 42, of 5002 Maple Hill, McHenry, was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 12 at Honey Lake Road on June 1, police said. Ramirez was charged with following too close, improper lane usage, no valid driver’s license, driving under the Influence of alcohol and driving under the Influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol level of .08 or more, according to police.  Ramirez was issued a court date of July 1 in the City of Waukegan and was released after posting $300 bond.

Possession of cannabis
John J. Duda, 25, of 400 Larkdale Row, Wauconda, was arrested for unlawful possession cannabis on Route 12 at Honey Lake Road and charged with expired registration, only one red taillight, defective windshield, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and disorderly conduct on June 1, police said. Duda was issued a court date of July 12 in the City of Mundelein and was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond. 

Traffic arrest (DUI)
Jorge R. Varela-Rojas, 37, who resides at 630 E. Liberty Street #210, Wauconda, was arrested for driving under the influence on Route 12 at Honey Lake Road in Lake Zurich on June 2, police said. Varela-Rojas was charged with improper lane usage, no valid driver’s license, child endangerment and driving under the Influence of alcohol, reports stated. Varela-Rojas was issued a court date of July 1 in the City of Waukegan and was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond. 

Theft
Dalasini S. Cummings, 36, of 1001 Heartwood Lane, Lake Zurich, was arrested for theft at 820 S. Rand Road on May 31, police said. Cummings was charged with one count of theft.  Cummings was issued a court date of July 15 in the City of Waukegan and was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.
