Lake Zurich First Place Winner in National Law Enforcement Challenge

Award to be presented in October.

Lake Zurich walked away with first place in the 2012 National Law Enforcement Challenge, which recognizes police departments that promote traffic safety in their communities.

The International Association of Chiefs of Police recently announced the winners of the 2012 “National Law Enforcement Challenge.”  The Lake Zurich Police Department was named as a first place winner in the program.

The National Law Enforcement Challenge is a nation-wide highway safety awards program. The program is sponsored in part by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration and coordinated by the International Association of Chiefs of Police.  This annual competition is open to all law enforcement agencies in the United States and Canada. Over 400 agencies submitted applications from 24 states and Canada.

The competition requires the agencies to report their policies and procedures covering highway safety, the officer training provided, public information and education initiatives, as well as enforcement and effectiveness measures.

Lake Zurich’s award will be presented at the annual International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Oct. 22.
