Lake Zurich Firefighters Extinguish Deck Fire in Deer Park

The Lake Zurich firefighters reponded to a a residential fire at 21820 Long Grove Rd. in Deer Park this afternoon, according to a news release from

When firefighters arrived on the scene at 1:31 p.m. smoke was visible from the rear of the home. Firefighters discovered the deck and exterior siding in the rear of the home were on fire. No one was home at the time and nobody was injured. The occupants are not expected to be displaced, according to the news release. 

Lake Zurich Fire Rescue was assisted by Barrington, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Long Grove and Lincolnshire fire stations in extinguishing the fire. The Wheeling and Fox River Grove fire departments provided coverage to Lake Zurich stations. Traffic control was provided by the Lake County Sheriff's Department. 

Water was obtained from the Palatine hydrant system across the street, causing Long Grove Road to be closed during the duration of the incident. 

Fire investigators have not determined the cause of the fire, but fire investigation will continue through the evening.
