Lake Zurich Fire/Rescue Hosts Annual Open House

This year's fire prevention week emphasizes "Have Two Ways Out"-- having an escape plan.

Lake Zurich Fire/Rescue will start Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 7-13, with an open house at Fire Department Station 1, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 7.

Village President Suzanne Branding read a proclamation for fire prevention week at Monday's village board meeting. Fire Chief David Wheelock urged residents to come out to the open house. The open house will include many fun events for children including a kdis firefighter challenge and a puppet show. Children will also learn about fire safety and stop, drop and roll.

Wheelock said attendees will also learn about the importance of having a fire escape plan.
