New ambulance replaces 1997 vehicle.

The Village of Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department, in conjunction with the Lake Zurich Rural Fire Protection District, announced that they have recently taken delivery of a new 2013 Pierce Fire Engine and a new 2013 International Ambulance.

“In accordance with our fleet replacement plan, we have recently acquired a new ambulance to replace one that has been in service for 15 years and a new fire engine,” said Fire Chief David Wheelock. “We are pleased to have both of these vehicles in service now.”

The new ambulance is a 2013 International 4300 chassis with a Medtec AD170 ambulance body. This addition to the fleet replaces a 1997 vehicle that was several years beyond its expected replacement date.

The new fire engine was added to the fleet and placed in service in February. Pierce Manufacturing-Florida supplied the engine that is built on a cost-effective custom chassis to meet the department’s needs. It carries 1,000 gallons of water, a full compliment of hand tools, and an assortment of ladders. Currently this vehicle is housed at Station 2.
