Lake County Jail Passes Annual Inspection

Illinois Department of Corrections inspects jail, which has made numerous improvements since the last inspection.

The Lake County Jail passed its annual Illinois Department of Corrections inspection with flying colors, according to Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran’s office.

The Illinois Department of Corrections conducted the annual inspection at the Lake County Jail in June and found it is in compliance with all Illinois County Jail Standards. The IDOC did not provide any recommendations.

Curran’s office has made several improvements since the last inspection including body cameras used by staff in contact with detainees, video visitation units installed in the Community Based Corrections Center and updates to the phone system, according to a release.

Lake County Jail received accreditation by the American Correctional Association in January.

The jail has a population of 686 inmates, well below its 740 capacity.
