Firefighters Extinguish Forest Lake House Fire

Lake Zurich Fire Dept. had help from 19 other departments at Sunday night fire.

Lake Zurich Fire Dept. responded to a fire at a two story home at 21716 W. Glendale Rd. in Forest Lake last night. Two people were taken to Good Shepherd Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. One firefighter was treated for injuries by paramedics on the scene, according to a news release from the Lake Zurich Fire Rescue Department.

Lake Zurich received the call at 7:45 p.m. The first units arrived at 7:47 p.m. and found a two-story single-family home with fire and smoke showing from the front of the home and heavy smoke from the rear of the second story. Units initiated an exterior attack on the heavily involved portion of the house, according to the news release.

It was initially reported that one occupant was trapped in a second-floor bedroom. Crews quickly assembled to start the rescue when the occupant was found safe across the street.

The Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) was requested to the fourth alarm for additional resources. Water was shuttled with tenders from a municipal hydrant on Ensell Road. The fire was under control within 70 minutes. 

One occupant and one bystander were treated at the scene and then taken to Good Shepherd Hospital. Several other residents escaped without injury.

The fire is currently under investigation and no damage estimate is available. 

The following departments assisted Lake Zurich on the scene: Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Countryside, Deerfiled, Fox River Grove, Libertyville, Lincolnshire, Lake Bluff, Lake Villa, Long Grove, Mundelein, Nunda, Palatine, Palatine Rural, Round Lake, Schaumburg,Wauconda, and Wheeling fire departments. The Algonquin, Antioch, Crystal Lake, Highland Park, Lake Bluff and Mount Prospect fire departments provided station coverage.
