DUI Crash and Criminal Damage Arrest: Police Blotter

These incidents were among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Criminal Damage Arrest                          

Daniel P. Phelan, 31, 21175 Crestview Drive, Barrington, was arrested for criminal damage to property in the 900 block of Ensell Rd., March 1.  Phelan was charged with three counts of criminal damage to property and released on $1,500 personal recognizance bonds with a Waukegan court date of April 1. 

Theft – Gov’t Property

Police received a report, on March 2, that someone removed the registration sticker from the rear registration plate on a vehicle while it was parked in the 700 block of South Rand Road.  The complainant was unable to provide any suspect information.  

Theft of Garbage Can

A resident reported that someone stole his garbage container from the 500 block of Oakwood Road in early February.  The complainant was unable to provide any suspect information. 

Traffic Arrest (DUI)                        

David A. Zurek, 43, 5114 Bong Street, Wonder Lake,  was arrested as result of an investigation of a traffic crash on Route 12 at Miller Road, March 2.  Zurek was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, disobeying a traffic signal, driving under the influence of drugs and operating an uninsured vehicle.  Zurek was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond with a Waukegan court date of March 1.  This matter is under investigation. 

Criminal Damage to Vehicle       

A resident reported, on March 3, unknown subject(s) damaged four vehicles in her driveway by breaking off the mirrors on all of the vehicles.  The estimated value of the damage is unknown.  This matter is under investigation.  

Warrant Service                            

Jami L. Willis, 34, 4 Pine Valley Road, Rolling Meadows, was arrested, March 4, pursuant to a traffic stop in the 400 block of South Rand Road on a failure to appear warrant issued by McHenry County.  Willis was released after posting $500.  Willis has a court date of March 11 in McHenry County.
