Damage to Property; Items Taken From Vehicles; DUIs; Scrap Metal, Electrical Equipment Stolen

Lake Zurich Police Department reports crimes from April 2-8.

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

Brienna C. Skaja, 23, of 560 Cortland Drive, Lake Zurich, was arrested at 1:36 a.m., Friday, April 8, for driving under the influence (DUI) on Route 12 at Route 22, police reports said.  Skaja was called in as a possible DUI driver, failed field sobriety testing and was charged with improper lane usage, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or more, police reports said.  Skaja was issued a Monday, May 9, court date in Waukegan and released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond.

Driving With A Suspended License

Amauri Marroquin, 21, of 1224 Briar Lane, Round Lake Beach, was arrested at 6:39 a.m., Thursday, April 8, for driving while driver’s license is suspended in the 300 block of Telser Road, police reports said.  A random registration check indicated the registered owner possessed a suspended driver’s license and Marroquin was charged with driving while driver’s license is suspended, according to police reports. Marroquin was issued a Friday, May 20, court date in Mundelein and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.

Window of Parked Vehicle Broken

Someone broke the front passenger side window of a man’s vehicle during the overnight hours while the vehicle was parked in the 100 block of Rugby Road, he reported to police at 6:01 a.m., Tuesday, April 5. Nothing was removed from the vehicle.  Cost of the damage is estimated to be $400. 

Mailbox Post Damaged

Someone damaged a man’s mailbox post during the overnight hours, he reported to police at 8:04 a.m., Tuesday, April 5.  The custom mailbox post has an estimated value of $300. 

Radar Detector Taken

Someone removed a radar from a woman’s vehicle while the vehicle was parked in the 700 block of Edelweiss Drive, she reported to police at 2:17 p.m., Tuesday, April 5.  The radar detector has an estimated value of $100.

Driving With A Suspended License

Adrian Sweezer, 50, of 52 North Crystal St. #2, Elgin was arrested at 12:07 a.m., Tuesday, April 5, for driving with a suspended license pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 22 at Orchard Pond Drive, police reports said. Sweezer was charged with operating a vehicle with no rear registration light and driving with a suspended driver’s license, according to police reports. Sweezer was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and issued a Friday, May 20, court date in Mundelein.

GPS Taken From Vehicle

Someone removed Garmin GPS from a woman’s unlocked vehicle during the overnight hours while the vehicle was parked in the 300 block of Red Bridge Road, she reported to police at 5:29 p.m., Sunday, April 3. The woman estimated the value of the Garmin GPS to be $689. 

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

Emilia A. Goralczyk, 24, of 28140 Meadow Lane Rd., McHenry was arrested at 1:49 a.m., Sunday, April 3, for driving under the influence of alcohol pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 12 at Timberlake Road, police reports said. Goralczyk failed all field sobriety tests, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and improper lane usage, according to police reports. Goralczyk was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond issued a Monday, May 2, court date in Waukegan.

Danielle E. Shilkus, 22, of 5823 83rd St., Kenosha, WI was arrested at 2:08 a.m., Saturday, April 2, for driving under the influence of alcohol pursuant to a traffic stop in the 900 block of North Rand Road, police reports said.  Shilkus failed all field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lane usage, according to police reports. Shilkus was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond and issued a Monday, May 2, court date in Waukegan.

Driving Without A Valid License

Everardo Mercado-Miranda, 27, of 1638 East Rainbow Bay, Palatine was arrested at 8:01 a.m., Friday, April 1, for driving with no valid driver’s license pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 12 at Miller Road, police reports said. Mercado-Miranda was charged with operating a vehicle with expired registration and driving without a valid driver’s license, according to police reports. Mercado-Miranda was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond with a court date in Mundelein.

Scrap Metal, Electrical Equipment Stolen

Someone reports stole $6,000 worth of scrap metal and electrical equipment from behind a business in the 300 block of Oakwood Road, the business owners reported at noon, Friday, April 1.  The matter is under investigation.
