Cannabis Possessions, a DUI, Disorderly Conduct, Trespassing, Jewelry Theft, Drivers With Suspended Licenses, Lead to Arrests

Lake Zurich Police Department reports crimes from February 15-25.

 The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

 Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

Gary R. Streu, 51, of 1531 Norway Lane #1B, Palatine, was arrested at 7:52 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 24, for driving under the influence of alcohol pursuant to a traffic stop in the area of Rt 22 and June Terrace, police reports said. Streu failed all field sobriety tests, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content greater than 0.08 and improper lane usage, according to police reports. Streu was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond and issued a Monday, March 14, court date in Waukegan.

Driving With A Suspended License

Robert S. Gonzalez, 25, of 2229 South 59th Ave., Cicero, was arrested at 11:33 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 24, for driving with a suspended license pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 12 at Wooded Ridge, police reports said. Gonzalez was charged with improper lane usage and driving with a suspended driver’s license, according to police reports. Gonzalez was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and issued a Friday, April 1, court date in Mundelein.

Possession of Cannabis

Lauren P. Coco, 20, of 3420 Eastway Drive, Island Lake, and Trevor J. Cogswell, 20, of 490 Trailside Drive, Lake Zurich, were arrested at 5:12 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23, following a traffic crash for unlawful possession of cannabis in the 600 block of S. Rand Road, police reports said. Coco was the driver involved in the traffic crash and Cogswell was the passenger inside the vehicle, according to police reports. Coco was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and Cogswell was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, police reports said. Both were issued a Thursday, March 17, court date in Waukegan and released on $1,500 personal recognizance bonds.  

Disorderly Conduct

Boris Pinsky, 61, of 896 March St., was arrested for disorderly conduct at 9:18 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 23, according to police reports. Pinsky was intoxicated, threatening others in the area and was charge with one count of Disorderly Conduct, according to police reports.

Driving With A Revoked License

Eric M. Stefko, 33 of 322 Lake Gillian Way, Algonquin, was arrested at 11:08 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 22, for driving with a revoked driver’s license on Route 12 at Deerpath Road, police reports said.  Stefko was stopped and charged for having a defective windshield, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, and driving with a revoked license, according to police reports. Stefko was issued a Wednesday, April 6, court date in Mundelein and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.  

Driving With A Revoked License

Mark S. Edwards, 50, of 872 Maple Lane, Wheeling, was arrested at 4:13 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 22, for driving with a revoked driver’s license on S. Old Rand Road at Route 12, police reports said.  Edwards was stopped for disobeying a traffic signal and was charged with disobeying a “Do Not Enter” Sign, attempted obstruction of justice and driving while driver’s license is revoked, according to police reports. Edwards was issued a Monday, March 14, court date in Wauken and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.  

Theft of Jewelry

Kim I. Belasco, 58, of  3322 RFD, Long Grove, was arrested and charged at 7:25 p.m., Monday, Feb. 21, for retail theft at Kohl’s Department Store, 675 N. Rand Rd., police reports said. Belasco removed $88 worth of jewelry from the store without paying for the items, according to police reports.valued at $88 without paying for the items, according to police reports. Belasco was issued a Friday, April 1, court date on in Mundelein and released on a $120 personal recognizance bond.

Vehicle Windows Damaged

Someone damaged two vehicle windows on two separate vehicles while they were parked in the 700 block of Rose Road, it was reported to police at 11:10 a.m., Sunday, Feb. 20. Estimated cost of the damage is $300. The matter is pending further investigation.  

Trespassing

Jathel J. Smith, 37, who resides at an unknown address was arrested at 7:10 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 20, for trespassing to state supported land at 201 S. Buesching Road, police reports said.  Smith remained on the property after being served a no trespass notice and was charged with one count of trespass to state supported land, according to police reports. Smith was issued a Monday, March 14, court date in Waukegan and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond. 

Unknown Liquid Thrown At Woman

Someone threw an unknown liquid on a woman as she exited her vehicle in the 200 block of S. Buesching Road, she reported to police at 4:27 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 20. She identified a suspect and the matter is pending further investigation.  

Driving With a Suspended License

Brent A. Fiedor, 26, of 127 N. Buesching Rd. #838, was arrested at 9:23 a.m., Saturday, Feb 19, for driving with a suspended license pursuant to a traffic stop at Highway 22 and Cortland Drive, police reports said. Fiedor was charged with driving while license is suspended and operating an uninsured vehicle, according to police reports. Fiedor was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond and issued a Friday, April 1, court date in Mundelein.

Burglary to a Vehicle

Someone entered a man’s vehicle while it was parked in the 100 block of Golfview Road during the overnight hours, he reported to police at 2:22 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 19. The subject damaged and possibly removed items from the vehicle. The matter is under investigation.

Someone entered a man’s vehicle while it was parked in the 700 block of Rose Road during the overnight hours, he reported to police at 4:28 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 19. The subject removed unknown items from the vehicle. The matter is under investigation.

Mailboxes Damaged by Vehicle

Damage to five mailboxes at various addresses was reported to police by different people from 7:18 a.m. to 7:42 a.m., Friday, Feb. 18, police reports said. Mailboxes in the 1300 block of Throndale Lane, 1200 block of Pheasant Ridge Drive, 1300 block of Thorndale Lane, 900 block of Warwick Lane and the 400 block of Stone Avenue were struck by a vehicle, according to police reports. Estimated cost of the damage to all five mailboxes is $600.

Possession of Cannabis

Thomas R. Clinge, 20, of 82 E. Harbor Drive, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia on Tuesday, Feb. 15, by McHenry County sheriff’s deputies. A McHenry County Sheriff’s Office K9 Patrol deputy stopped Clinge at Route 120 and Hillside, police reports said. After speaking to Clinge, who was driving the vehicle, the deputy noticed indications which lead him to believe their were narcotics in the vehicle. After an interview, probable cause was found and a search was of the vehicle was performed. More than 110 grams of cannabis, numerous drug paraphernalia items were found by police. Estimated value of the seized cannabis is $1,000.
