Burglary, Various Moving Violations, a DUI, Cannabis Possessions, Damaged Mailbox and Fraudulent Credit Card Purchase Occupy Police

Lake Zurich Police Department reports crimes from February 25-March 3.

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Burglary to Apartment

Someone entered a woman’s apartment in the 200 block of S. Beusching Road and removed items from it, she reported to police at 3:46 p.m., Wednesday, March 2.  Clothing, a cell phone and a video game system were taken. An estimate for the value of stolen items is unavailable. A suspect has been identified and the matter is under investigation.

Driving With a Suspended License

Marcus A. Green, 27, 1860 Sunset Drive, Twin Lakes, WI was arrested at 10:58 a.m., Tuesday, March 1, for driving with a suspended driver’s license on Route 12 at Route 22, police reports said. A random registration check indicated the registered owner possessed a suspended driver’s license and Green was charged with driving while driver’s license is suspended, according to police reports. Green was issued a Wednesday, April 6, court date in Mundelein and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.

Driving Without A Valid License

Bridget E. Rowley, 21, of 1085 Partridge Lane, in was arrested at 7:16 p.m., Tuesday March 1, for driving without a valid driver’s license on Deerpath Road at Route 12, police reports said. Rowley was involved in a traffic crash and was charged with expired registration, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and driving with no valid driver’s license, according to police reports. Rowley was issued a Friday, April 1, court date in Mundelein and released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond.  

Driving Without A Valid License

Alvaro Serna, 32, of 5239 W. Deming Place, Chicago, was arrested at 11:46 p.m., Monday, Feb. 28, for driving without a valid driver’s license on Route 12 at Cuba Road, police reports said. A random registration check indicated the registered owner possessed no valid driver’s license and Serna was charged with driving with no valid driver’s license, according to police reports. Serna was issued a Friday, March 19 court date in Mundelein and released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond.  

Failure to Wear A Safety Belt

Vincente Fuentes, 39, of 2240 Nicholas Drive Apt 2C, Arlington Heights, was arrested at 5:24 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27, for driving with no valid driver’s license in the 700 block of S. Rand Road, police reports said. Fuentes was stopped and charged for failure to wear a safety belt, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and driving with no valid driver’s license, according to police reports. Fuentes was issued a Friday, April 1, court date in Mundelein and released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond. 

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

Aaron H. Manley, 39, of 68 Park Ave.,  was arrested at 12:23 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, for driving under the influence of alcohol pursuant to a traffic stop on North Old Rand Road at Lakebreeze Court, police reports said. Manley was stopped for improper lane usage, failed all field sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a blood alcohol content greater than 0.08, operating an uninsured vehicle and improper lane usage, according to police reports.  Manley was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond and was issued a Monday, March 28, court date in Waukegan.

Driving With A Suspended License

Mauricio Carmona, 23, of 1020 Country Club Rd., was arrested at 9:20 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, for driving with a suspended license pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 12 at June Terrace, police reports said. Carmona was charged with failing to wear a safety belt when required and driving with a suspended driver’s license, according to police reports. Carmona was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and issued a Friday, April 1, court date in Mundelein.

Mailbox Damaged

Someone damaged a mailbox in the 900 block of Cedar Creek Drive during the overnight hours, a woman reported to police at 9:27 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 26. The mailbox has an estimated value of $150.  Further action is pending.

Possession of Cannabis and Drug Paraphernalia

Abraham Ortega, 28, of 834 Ridge, Mundelein, was arrested at 10:42 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia pursuant to a traffic stop in the 300 block of Church Street, police reports said. Ortega’s vehicle smelled like burnt cannabis and he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of cannabis, speeding and failing to wear a safety belt when required, according to police reports. Ortega was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and issued a Monday, March 21, court date in Waukegan.

Possession of Cannabis

Barry A. Press, 52, of 870 Trace Drive #101, Buffalo Grove, was arrested at 5:53 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, for unlawful possession of cannabis pursuant to a traffic stop in the area of Rand Road and Miller Road, police reports said.  Press’ vehicle smelled like burnt cannabis and he was charged with possession of cannabis, disorderly conduct and improper lane usage, according to police reports.  Press was released on a $120 personal recognizance bond and issued a Friday, April 1, court date in Mundelein.

Driving Without A Valid License

Jose L. Ponce-Garcia, 28, of 2620 Oak Elm, McHenry, was arrested at 11:25 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, for driving with no valid driver’s license pursuant to a traffic crash investigation on Route 22 at June Terrace, police reports said. Ponce-Garcia was charged with improper lane usage, operating an uninsured vehicle and driving without a valid driver’s license, according to police reports. Ponce-Garcia was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond and issued a Wednesday, April 6, court date in Mundelein.

Warrant, Possession of A Controlled Substance

William H. Taylor III, 49, of 309 Whitney Rd., was arrested at 2:47 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, on a Lake County for two counts of telephone harassment with bond set at  $20,000, police reports said. William was also charged with aggravated assault and possession of a controlled substance, according to police reports. William had entered the residence while carrying a large wrench, police reports said. William was taken into custody and transported to the Lake Zurich Police Department and later to the Lake County Courthouse for a bond hearing, according to police reports.  William was released on a $20,000 personal recognizance bond.  Court action is pending.

Leaving the Scene of An Accident

Maria Andrade-Aguilar, 38, of 660 East Liberty St. #301, Wauconda, met with officers at 8:50 p.m., Friday, Feb. 25, at 200 Mohawk Trail regarding a hit-and-run traffic crash that occurred on Route 12 at Wilmette Terrace on Feb. 23, police reports said. Andrade-Aguilar was arrested following her interview and was charged with failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident, improper lane usage, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a valid driver’s license, according to police reports.  Andrade-Aguilar was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and issued a Friday, March 18, court date in Mundelein.

Fraudulent Credit Card Purchase

Someone purchased $3,980.98 worth of merchandise with a fraudulent credit card from a business in the 800 block of Oakwood Road, the proprietors reported to police at 10:10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 25, police reports said. The merchandise was ultimately shipped to an address in Oregon.  This matter is under investigation.
