Beer, Wine Taken; Drivers With Suspended Licenses; Attempted Burglary; iPod Taken; Warrant

Lake Zurich Police Department reports crimes from March 26-April 1.

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Lake Zurich Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

Beer, Wine Taken

Somone took beer and wine valued at $52 from a business in the 500 block of W. Highway 22, it was reported to police at 1:28 p.m., Thursday, March 31. This matter is pending further investigation.

Driving With A Suspended License

Brett R. Larson, 20, of  9N711 Tipi Lane Elgin, was arrested at 8:10 a.m., Monday, March 28, for driving with a suspended license pursuant to a traffic stop in the 300 block of South Rand Road, police reports said. Larson was charged with operating an uninsured vehicle and driving with a suspended driver’s license, according to police reports. Larson was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond and issued a Friday, May 6, court date in Mundelein.

Driving Without A Valid License

Geovanna E. Lopez, 23, of 271 8th Street #2B, Wheeling, was arrested at 12:37 a.m., Sunday, March 27, for driving with no valid driver’s license pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 22 at Ela Road, police reports said. Lopez was charged with failing to signal when required, failing to properly secure a child under eight years old in a vehciel and driving without a valid driver’s license. Lopez was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and issued a Friday, May 6, court date in Mundelein.

Attempted Burglary

Somone opened the rear screen sliding door and also moved a cover for one of the basement windows in the 1000 block of Peters Court during the overnight hours, the homeowner reported to police at 8:26 a.m., Sunday, March 27. Damage to the cover and screen on the basement window is estimated to be $50.  The matter is under investigation.

Driving With A Suspended License

Sergio Landa-Mendoza, 29, of 108 Marlene Court #8, Wauconda, was arrested at 8:09 a.m., Saturday, March 26, and charged for driving with a suspended license pursuant to a traffic stop on Route 12 at Miller Road, police reports said. Landa-Mendoza was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and issued a Wednesday, May 4, court date in Mundelein.

Driving With A Suspended License

James J. Machala, 45, of 10 Aberdeen Rd., Hawthorn Woods, was arrested at 10:02 a.m., Saturday, March 26, and charged for driving with a suspended license pursuant to a traffic stop on Cuba Road at Eddy Lane, police reports said. Machala was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and issued a Friday, May 6, court date in Mundelein.

iPod Taken From Vehicle

Someone removed an iPod from a man’s unlocked vehicle during the overnight hours while the vehicle was parked in the 1000 block of Peters Court, he reported to police at 12:09 p.m., Saturday, March 26.  The iPod has a reported value of $50.00.  Further action is pending. 

Driving With A Revoked License

John W. Schuricht, 28, 860 MacArthur, Chicago Heights, was arrested at 10:06 a.m., Friday, March 25, for driving with a revoked license pursuant to a traffic stop in the 600 block of South Rand Road, police reports said. Schuricht was charged with operating a vehicle with revoked registration and driving with a revoked driver’s license, according to police reports.  Schuricht was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and issued a Wednesday, May 4, court date in Mundelein.

Burglary

Someone entered a vacant business in the 900 block of Donata Court and removed property, it was reported to police at 6:18 p.m., Friday, March 25. The property inside the business was secured pending civil action.  An estimate of the loss is currently unavailable.  The matter is under investigation.

Failure To Appear Warrant

Leonard Mitchell, 21, of 3000 Bayside Drive #111, Palatine, was arrested at 5:45 p.m., Friday, March 25, on a valid arrest warrant at 201 S. Buesching Road, police reports said.  The arrest warrant was a failure-to-appear warrant for criminal trespass issued by Cook County.  Mitchell was unable to post $300 bond and was transported to Palatine by a Palatine police officer to await a bond hearing.
