43-Year-Old Island Lake Man Arrested for Intimidating Juvenile Via Internet

Police say man sent explicit photographs to juvenile,

McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren announced, today, the culmination of a three-month long investigation resulting in the arrest of Douglas J. Carlson, 43, 4413 Beech St. Apt. #108, Island Lake, on felony counts for harmful material and intimidation, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

In August of 2012, Detectives from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office began investigating an incident where a juvenile had been contacted by an unknown individual via a social networking site.

During the course of the investigation, it was learned that Douglas had contacted the juvenile numerous times and sent explicit photographs to the juvenile via the internet, according to the release.  Douglas was also able to obtain explicit photographs from the juvenile.  The photos from the juvenile were then used to threaten the juvenile that Carlson would expose these photographs to the juvenile’s friends, if the juvenile didn’t continue to send him photographs.

On Nov. 14, Sheriff’s Detectives obtained a warrant for the arrest for Douglas J. Carlson. Douglas was taken into custody, today, without incident in Island Lake.  The investigation is continuing and further charges are pending.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office was not able to release specific information about the juvenile at this time, such as hometown, age and sex,  said Aimee Knop of the community relations division.

Wow, this story really shows how selfish some people are now. The person who complained to theRead More police better hope he/she never needs any help or compassion from anyone or any organization. They don't deserve it. You were trying to have a great event and some hater couldn't put earplugs in their ears for one night of their life if they didn't like the noise. So sad. Way to go for your efforts though! Bob
