What is Wellness?

Wellness looks at the whole person, not just a symptom or specific problem. Do you live well?

Wellness and being well can be defined to be a state of having excellent health, both physically and emotionally, brought about by eating well balanced meals, sufficient physical activity, and a healthy lifestyle.

Having the proper nutrition or nourishment means that the body is given the right amount and kind of food, that are filled with nutrients aimed to keep the normal functions of the body running smoothly.

 A healthy lifestyle includes avoiding habits and foods that may cause harm to the body such as drinking, smoking and prohibited drugs.

 The body is considered to be well when everything within it, from a tiny cell to a full fledged body system is working properly and accordingly on its given function as well as having the mind at peace.

 The human body is composed of several systems working together to perform the specific functions asked of it, both physically and mentally.

Often times, we think that lifting weights and going to the gym is enough to make the body well and neglect the other organs that are more important for its vital functions.

 Each part of the body should be taken care of since each has its own function to perform in propagating the wellness of the body.

 It should be given ample physical activity as well as ample rest and sleep to rejuvenate it. Education and resourcefulness contribute a great deal in achieving the wellness of the whole body.

 It does not happen overnight. It needs to be taken one step at a time. When the body is well, then the entire being is also well, making life more enjoyable.

 It is when the mind, spirit, and body are in tune with each other that you achieve true wellness.
