UFOs Over Vernon Hills?

There were some reports on Twitter of UFO sightings in Vernon Hills May 26. Did you see anything strange?

There I was, less than 24 hours after launching Vernon Hills Patch, when I saw this after searching for "Vernon Hills Illinois" on Twitter:

"UFO Sighting in Vernon Hills, Illinois, on May 26th 2012 — 7-10 Glowing Red Orbs Traveling Across Sky going East."

At first I said, "What? That's ridiculous." And then I saw this, from a different person:

"At about 10:50 I saw 7 UFOs flying over Vernon Hills, IL, Did anybody else?"

That message was also from May 26.

While the X-Files fanatic in me wants to be like Fox Mulder and say "I want to believe," the journalist in me says I must be skeptical.

Now, sure, I've read lots of reports of UFOs being seen in the skies over Illinois. Some sort of aircraft? Most likely. From "out of this world"? Doubt it. Little green men? Highly unlikely.

Or not.

What do you think? Did you see anything strange in the skies above Vernon Hills or other local towns last weekend?

The truth is out there.

Let me guess, you don't believe there is such thing as UFOs?

There was a military exercise all that night, here locally with an early morning landing of several helicopters in Lake Forest. Hope this helps!

I saw them too and they were not Helicopters. I fly small aircraft and it was unlike anything I have ever seen. Gary T

Rec For years I was a researcher and "UFO hunter" for MUFON in Illinois and can tell you without a doubt that we are not alone. However, a little more than half of my investigations I determined were misidentified objects such as planets, aircraft, weather phenomenon, and orbiting hardware. However, the remainder of the cases were beyond the ordinary explanations, with many objects obviously intelligently controlled. Skepticism is a good thing to keep us from naive and unsophisticated beliefs, but as the bard said, "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." We are being visited.
