Rand Road Construction Project

Open letter to IDOT:

This needs to be escalated with yours and ours Illinois state constituents.  I left message into the deep dark hole called ‘IDOT website’.

What is the reason for not redirecting traffic onto shoulder AND one lane for flow at the Rt. 12/Old McHenry intersection project in Lake County, so that 4 – 6 full lanes could still flow bi-directionally.  The hour long back-ups for miles in either direction are growing weary to the local residents.  Two people working each day out there is completely insufficient.  This project that affects tens of thousands of trucks, cars and residents daily through Lake County on this divided and well ridden highway known as US Route 12/Rand Road.

I hear car and truck air horns night and day with screeching brakes with this colossal mess of an IDOT project.   All local businesses have had a deep negative impact on their bottom line, residents cannot get home or to work, let alone to appointments and back in the area.

As an Engineer myself for nearly 30 years, 22 years living in this area, it seems as if this project was given to a local High School engineering class for planning and execution.    Local residents are told the contractors are doing this “when they have the spare time after other jobs” -- and it looks like that!

This is piss poor planning at its fullest and excruciating painful execution.
