LAKE ZURICH | The Lake Zurich Police Department raised $5,353.06 on May 30 for Special Olympics Illinois with its Cops on Rooftop event.

The event took place in partnership with the Lake Zurich Dunkin' Donuts.  Dunkin’ Donuts is a corporate sponsor of Special Olympics Illinois.  Dunkin’ Donuts owner Furqan Khan has been involved with this yearly event in his other stores, but this is the first year Lake Zurich police officers have been involved with the Lake Zurich store.  Nineteen Lake Zurich police officers participated in the event; most volunteering on their own time.  Lake Zurich Mayor Tom Poynton even got up on the roof to help support the cause.

The Cops on Rooftop event took place at more than 150 Dunkin' Donuts locations throughout Illinois, setting a new record for money raised. More than $400,000 was collected.
