Obituary: Helen Lorraine Marsh

Funeral Mass for Helen Lorraine Marsh (nee Hargrove), 90, of Buffalo Grove, formerly of Traverse City, MI, will begin Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Rd., Lake Zurich, IL 60047; where she will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral Mass.  Father David Ryan will officiate. Inurnment will be private at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens, Traverse City, MI.

Born April 4, 1923 in Chicago, she passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 15 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Buffalo Grove.

Helen resided at Sunrise Assisted Living in Buffalo Grove since her husband, Ernie’s death in 2008.   In her earlier years Helen was a crossing guard and also worked as a phone operator at Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago.  Before moving to this area, Helen and Ernie had many years of enjoyment at their home in Traverse City, MI.  Most recently, Helens life was very full at Sunrise Assisted Living where she very much enjoyed being part of the “Lunch Bunch”, the weekly outings, and singing with entertainers that would come to Sunrise.  She also formed many close relationships with the care managers at Sunrise.  Most of all, Helen loved her family and enjoyed Sunday Mass at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Lake Zurich, and then out for breakfast afterwards.
