Funeral services for Ian A. Naismith, 73, of Emerald Isle, NC, formerly of North Barrington, will be held Tuesday, April 10, at 1 p.m., at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 415 S. Buesching Road., Lake Zurich, where he will lie in state from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
Interment will follow at Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines. The Rev. David Ryan will officiate.
Ian was born July 1, 1938 in Dallas, TX, and passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 20 in New York City, NY.
Ian was the grandson of Dr. James Naismith, the inventor of the game and rules of basketball.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be appreciated to the Naismith International Basketball Foundation, 521 W. Nolana, McAllen, TX, 78501, to be designated for the filming of the Dr. James Naismith Basketball story.
