Lake Zurich Rotary Donates $4,000 To Food Pantry
Rotary members recently delivered a check for $4,003 to the Lake Zurich food pantry.
Last Thursday, the Rotary Club of Lake Zurich donated $4,003 from its spring charity events to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. This organization gives out fresh and packaged food to the needy every Thursday night at the St. Francis de Sales Ministry Center, located in the former Ela Township Library building on Buesching Road in Lake Zurich.
"Volunteer caseworkers minister to Ela Township residents struggling with illness, domestic abuse and job loss," says the website of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which runs the food pantry on an all-volunteer basis. People of all faiths from Ela, Cuba, Vernon, Libertyville, Fremont and Wauconda Townships are eligible to apply for food and other assistance. Food is given out on Thursdays starting at 6:30 p.m.
Funds for the donation were raised by the Rotary Club of Lake Zurich during its popular "Pub Crawl" and the "Roll with Rotary" bowling event. All funds raised at these two events were donated to the food pantry.
