A good neighbor comes in many forms.
It may be someone who keeps an eye on your kids when they’re playing outside or someone who pet sits for you when your family is on vacation. Some even go above and beyond to make your community a great place to live by picking up trash in neighborhood parks or volunteering to start youth programs at the local library.
Celebrate the people who make your community thrive by honoring them on National Good Neighbor Day on Sept. 28.

- The founders of Take A Stand --Ann Brody, Heather Riley, Shannon Brody, Megan Hartigan, and Lindsey Dulian—spend their free time trying to raise awareness of the prevalence and danger of heroin and other substance in the hope that knowledge will end the cycle of deaths.
The concept of National Good Neighbor Day began in the early 1970’s when Montana resident Becky Mattson pushed to create a holiday that would recognize people who make their neighborhoods a great place to live.
The annual event became a National Holiday in 2003 when Senator Max Baucus sponsored a U. S. resolution naming Sept. 28 National Good Neighbor Day.

I live in Hunters Creek Subdivision, where the neighbors rally around and support each other in a loving and caring manner. Recently, my husband Tom Holub lost his battle with melanoma skin cancer. During the many hospital stays my neighbors the Amick and Sunkara Families opened up their homes and hearts to act as a surrogate family for my young son Mickey. I could feel secure knowing my son was well looked after, so I could attend to my husbands needs. During Tom's illness and after his passing, the neighborhood and Peace Lutheran Church rallied around my family with love and support. They brought us meals, took care of our snow removal, lawn care and trimmed our shurbs. It didn't stop there, the industrious children of Hunters Creek (The Chung, Clausen, Hindman, Goldberg, Pratt, Sunkara and Watson families) had many lemonade stands to raise money in Tom's honor. They raised $144.29 for the Tom Holub Memorial Fund. They worked with Culver's to organize a "Dine and Share Event" on October 11th at Culver's to support the Tom Holub Memorial Fund. Culver's will donate 10% of the orders between 5 - 8 pm with an inivitation for the Tom Holub Memorial fund. My Children Mickey, Kelsey, Jim and myself Christina Holub thank you Hunters Creek neighbors, Peace Lutheran Church and Culver's for all you have done for our family. Your sympathy and thoughtfulness will always be gratefully remembered and deeply appreiciated.
