Lake Zurich Community-Supported Blood Challenge

Over the last three years, LifeSource and the Village of Lake Zurich Community has teamed up to sponsor a Blood Challenge event to increase resources in our local blood banks. This is part of a county-wide drive which originated by creating a friendly competition amongst local fire departments to see who can produce the highest number of units in their community.

Last year and once again this year, the Lake Zurich Fire Department will partner with local civic groups and other local agencies to conduct a Village-wide Community Supported Blood Drive to help replenish shortages occurring in our blood banks. The community groups and agencies that have stepped up as partners include; LifeSource, Village of Lake Zurich, Lake Zurich Rotary, Lake Zurich Lions Club, Lake Zurich American Legion Post 964, Lake Zurich Area Chamber of Commerce, Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, Ela Area Public Library, Foglia YMCA, and St. Francis de Sales Church.

In an effort to draw more donors to this Blood Drive Challenge, we have incorporated the event into our annual Lions Club Alpinefest. Visit the American Legion Hall on Saturday, July 21, 2012 from 9 AM to 3 PM. The American Legion Hall is located behind Village Hall at 51 Lions Drive and will be converted into a donor center. Visitors of Alpinefest or those passing by can stop in and make a blood donation to help support this life-saving cause. The Lions Club is offering FIVE ALPINE BUCKS to be redeemed for carnival rides, food, and drinks, (not valid for games) for any presenting donor at the Alpinefest on July 21, 2012.

For those who want to donate but can't make the Alpinefest date, they can stop by any LifeSource facility between May 22 and September 4, 2012 and contribute to the Lake Zurich Blood Challenge event by using the Code LZ32 when they donate.

We encourage donor pre-registration if possible so that LifeSource can work out all the logistics for the day. Pre-registration can be done by calling LifeSource at 312-279-2958 (be sure to mention LZ32) or by signing up on-line HERE. Please consider personally donating to this important cause and also encouraging others to do the same.

Remember - Each Donation Saves 3 Lives!

Wow, this story really shows how selfish some people are now. The person who complained to theRead More police better hope he/she never needs any help or compassion from anyone or any organization. They don't deserve it. You were trying to have a great event and some hater couldn't put earplugs in their ears for one night of their life if they didn't like the noise. So sad. Way to go for your efforts though! Bob
